Company Description: In 1990 Bruce Poon Tip launched G.A.P Adventures with the belief that other travelers would share his desire to experience authentic adventures in the real world. We've grown from a one-man show to a company of over 300, and from a handful of trips in Latin America to hundreds of adventures on all 7 continents. Over 40,000 travellers experience the real world with us every year! What hasn't changed is our passion for making sure you get behind the scenes to experience the real world in an authentic and sustainable manner.

Adventure Description: Our Adventures The world is full of unique and authentic travel experiences for those willing to step outside the resort hotels and controlled environments of traditional tourism. Whether you're dreaming of trekking in the Andes, traversing the plains of Africa, exploring local markets in China, or embarking on a polar expedition, our adventures capture the essence of the real world.
G.A.P Adventures Travellers Great Adventure People are a different breed of traveller. They crave the road less travelled - seeking real adventure and authentic experiences. They arrive from countries around the world and cover a wide range of ages and backgrounds, usually an even mix of men and women. They share a passion for adventure and appreciate the G.A.P difference:
Small Groups Our travel philosophy dictates small groups. They provide flexibility, allowing us to vary how and where we travel, and an intimacy that won't crowd out your experience. Our maximum group size is between 12 and 16 travellers but our average is often smaller.
Transportation We believe in the old adage that *getting there is half the fun* and so varied and unique transportation is a highlight of many of our small group adventures.
You may find yourself riding the roof of a train in India, plying icy polar waters by expedition ship, peddling your way through Europe, bouncing along in a 4WD safari vehicle across the African savannah, slicing through the Amazon in a dugout canoe or jostling for a spot on a crowded bus in Guatemala.
Accommodation Our accommodation is designed to be an integral part of your experience and to capture the essence of the local area. Depending on the adventure you choose you could spend the night in a Tuscan farmhouse, at a small family hotel, under a tent at high altitude, in a family home in the heart of the Amazon, on a ship under sail, or under a blanket of stars.
Accommodation is twin-share and we do not charge single supplements. Single travellers will share a room with a traveller of the same sex.
Food Enjoying local cuisine is a fundamental part of the travelling experience, although we recognize that some taste buds are more adventurous than others. We encourage our travelers to sample local dishes and provide them with ample opportunity to do so.
We include most meals when travelling in remote regions, such as during an expedition cruise, when trekking, while aboard one of our yachts, or while on safari in Africa. The food we prepare is hearty and fresh, and most are amazed at what our cooks and chefs can turn out at high altitude or on the high seas.
Value and Flexibility Our down-to-earth approach to adventure travel will save you money. Why pay for lavish hotels, western-style meals and tourist coaches that will isolate you from the real world you've come to experience?
Our travelers experience greater flexibility and further savings because we only include the major highlights - those attractions we know everyone will want to see. We leave other activities as options, providing you with the freedom to choose how you spend your spare time and your travel budget.
